The 1st North Walsham Scout Group have been awarded first place and a whopping £3000 from Lloyds Bank.  As a purely voluntary group, we were delighted to have got through to the Lloyds Bank Community Fund final – The Public Vote. Our Beavers, Cubs, Scouts & Explorers rose to the challenge and canvassed their friends, neighbours and family for votes.  Our parents took the vote to their work, onto the streets of North Walsham and our scout Leaders got the word out too.

The Lloyds Bank Community Fund was set up to help local people across England, Wales, and Northern Ireland, the Channel Islands and Isle of Man to have a positive impact at the heart of their community by giving grants to 1,400 local good causes in 350 communities.

We were presented the cheque from Claire Turner and Mark Moses from Lloyds Bank and we have used the money to buy brand new patrol tents for the children at the group.  The group looks after well over 100 young people from North Walsham & the surrounding area, from Beavers at aged 6, through to Cubs from age 8, then at 10 ½ years old they move into Scouts.  We also have an Explorer Section from age 14 to 18 who share our facilities and they’ve also embraced the competition with enthusiasm.

I would like to say a huge ‘thank-you’ to everyone who took part, every vote has made a massive difference to our scout group and the community in North Walsham.

Have you ever thought about helping out or becoming a scout leader?  We all have useful skills and you can volunteer and help in many ways.
