This year will be a golden one for the New Taverham Players as they are celebrating 50 years of performing.

And they are very proud of their longevity.

“That’s a milestone many groups and clubs will not get to achieve and something that we are all extremely proud of,” said the group’s Steven Melton.

He said there would be a party in June, but in the meantime the group was working on its next performance – Footloose.

Taking to the stage in May, the show will be directed by Tracy Melton, who said it would be a lot more than just singing and dancing.

“Many people, including me, think of Footloose and think of dance,” she said.

“But I’m so excited about this show as the story has depth and deals with struggles, personal loss and healing.

“I hope to take our audience on a journey of forgiveness and redemption – a story of healing and uplift filled with a lot of nifty songs!”

Performances will be from May 12 to May 17 at Taverham Village Hall. The box office is open for tickets – www.ticketsource.co.uk/new-taverham-players – and you can find out more at newtaverhamplayers.com or on Facebook.
