Detectives are appealing for witnesses after a man was robbed in North Walsham.

It happened in the early hours of yesterday morning (Monday 29 September) at about 5.25am as the victim, a man in his 70s, walked to his car which was parked in Northfield Road.

The victim was approached from behind by 2 males, one of whom who sprayed liquid from a clear bottle into his face while the other stole his rucksack. The rucksack contained cash, ID documents and other cards and papers.

Investigating officer, Detectives Constable Riki Chase from Yarmouth CID, said: “While we’re carrying out further enquiries to find out what this liquid was, we don’t believe it was harmful as the victim suffered no injuries or discomfort as a result of the liquid being sprayed.

“The suspects fled the scene with the rucksack along Northfield Road towards the junction of Mundesley Road and I’d be keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time, perhaps travelling to work, who may have noticed anything suspicious.”

Officers are keen to speak with anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has information concerning it.

Contact DC Chase on 101 or alternatively call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
