Pupils from St Augustine’s Catholic Primary School in Old Costessey have put pen to paper to express their concern for wildlife and the environment.

The children wrote to MP Ben Goldsborough about topics including endangered species, habitat loss, poaching and safeguarding nature for future generations.

The handwritten letters were taken into Parliament, with Mr Goldsborough pledging to respond to them personally.

He said: “The pupils had clearly put a great deal of thought into their letters, and it was inspiring to see their passion for protecting the natural world.

“Their letters were a powerful reminder that concern for wildlife and the environment is shared across generations, and that the next generation is already thinking seriously about the world they will inherit.

“My sincere thanks go to every pupil who took the time to write.

“I will be writing back to each of them personally to thank them for sharing their views.

“I hope this experience encourages them to continue taking an interest in the issues they care about and to recognise that their voices can help shape the future.

“Their enthusiasm, thoughtfulness and commitment to protecting wildlife were a real credit to themselves and to St Augustine’s Catholic Primary School.”
