Rivalry will boost charity
Bowlers in Holt are looking forward to taking part in a match this summer to raise money for charity and to remember a stalwart of the bowling world.
Holt Bowls Club will be taking on a team from West Runton in the John Cooke Charity Cup, a two-leg contest in May and August.

The two clubs have enjoyed a friendly rivalry for many years and have this year decided to use it to celebrate the life of John Cooke (pictured) and to raise money for a motor neurone disease charity.
John, who was captain at West Runton, died suddenly from an MND-related illness.
Holt club member Ray Carter, who also used to play at West Runton, said: “John played bowls for West Runton for 14 years, six as club captain, and was well known among local bowlers.
“Both clubs extend a warm welcome to anyone to come along who knew John, anyone who wants to donate to MND, but especially anyone looking for a social activity with some gentle exercise who might be considering taking up bowls, to come and see that bowls can be fun.”
The first leg of the competition will be at West Runton at 1.30pm on May 18. The second will be held at Holt at 1.30pm on August 3.
