A running club that prides itself on its community spirit has had a big influx of new members looking for coaching and support.

Aylsham Runners is the only local UK Athletic-registered running club in the town and now has more than 100 members.

Vice chair and coach Lucy Baker said: “We pride ourselves on welcoming all abilities of runners and ages from 16 years.

“We currently have over 100 members, which is a fantastic achievement, and we are soon to be entering our fourth year as an affiliated club.
“Our club ethos is to encourage community spirit amongst all members and to promote mental and physical wellbeing and to aid our members to achieve their personal goals.

“We have training/effort sessions every Thursday at 6.30pm, meeting at Aylsham Recreation Ground. We have suitable sessions for all abilities – adaptable for everyone’s running needs, all coached by experienced coaches.

“Tuesday is a social run starting at the Recreation Ground, running different planned routes. We always having a lead runner and a tail runner, so nobody is ever left behind.
“We have just launched our first couch to 5k programme and welcomed 26 new members. We are excited to support them on their running journey.”

The club will host its second Aylsham Runners 10K event on May 7 after a successful inaugural race last year.
Early booking at totalracetiming.co.uk is advised to avoid disappointment.

Club members take part in many local, national and international races throughout the year.
One of the regular events they attend is the Blickling parkrun on Saturday mornings and they also support the junior parkrun on Sunday mornings.
Prospective members are invited to attend two free sessions on Thursday evenings, before committing to full membership.

KEEPING ON RUNNING: Aylsham Runners take part in lots of activities in the town and further afield.
