St Andrews Cricket Club’s preparations for the new season have been  overshadowed by the deeply sad news of the passing of former captain Stuart Warminger.

Stuart was a prominent figure at the club for nine seasons from 2011, including three years as captain from 2016. He played over 135 games as front-line bowler and a dangerous middle order batter.

CROWNING GLORY: Stuart Warminger with St Andrews’ Norfolk League Division One championship trophy in 2018.

During his first year as captain Saints were promoted to the top tier of the Norfolk Cricket League, with further success arriving the following summer when the club reached the plate final of the prestigious Tom Bartram T20 competition. The crowning achievement came in 2018 when Stuart led the club to its first ever Norfolk League Division One championship, in what was an exciting and memorable season.

Paying tribute, St Andrews’ committee released the following statement: “Stuart’s dedication, commitment and desire to win were key components in delivering some of arguably the most successful years in St Andrews Cricket Club’s long history.

“He was a cricket man through and through and will be missed across the Norfolk cricket community.”

Ahead of the 2025 season the club are running multiple indoor sessions throughout March and April.

Providing league, friendly and evening cricket, the club are always looking for new members.
