School gives its support to foodbank
Children from Arden Grove Infant and Nursery School have collected donations for the local foodbank and delivered them personally.
As part of this term’s focus on the school’s core value of empathy, the school council organised a drive to gather non-perishable food items for families in need.

The initiative was a resounding success, with students, parents, and staff all contributing to the cause.
Over the past few weeks, the school community has donated canned goods, pasta, rice and other essentials, filling several large boxes with donations.
The school’s council members, along with their teachers, made their way to the local foodbank to deliver the collected items and they were so excited to make a difference.
Josh Cook, Deputy Headteacher and School Council Co-ordinator, said: “We are so proud of our students for showing such care and compassion for others.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for them to put empathy into action, and it’s been wonderful to see how the entire school community has come together to support this cause.”
The foodbank, which serves the local community, is a vital resource for individuals and families facing financial hardship.
Volunteers at the facility talked to the children about the importance of regular donations and the role of organisations like schools in ensuring that those in need are supported.
As part of the school’s ongoing commitment to teaching its pupils about how small acts of kindness can lead to meaningful change, the children are being encouraged to ‘fill a sock’ for homeless people. They are also creating festive cards and tags to accompany them.
