Sharing ideas on coastal issues

After hosting 11 Coastwise Cafés so far this year, the team at North Norfolk District Council has lined up a few more.

The face-to-face community drop-in events have taken place in coastal communities around north Norfolk, with more than 300 people going along to find out more about issues concerning them.

Feedback has generated ideas on ways to keep in touch and share concerns as well as suggestions for initiatives to adapt to changes along the coast, including erosion.

And some of those who went along have started their own groups and committees, including one in Trimingham.

In November the cafés will focus on housing and will be tailored to each area.

Overstrand

On Tuesday, November 19, at the parish hall from 9.30am until 12.30pm, this session will focus on key infrastructure and the setting up of a local community group.

Trimingham

On Thursday, November 21, the café at  Trimingham Hall, from 2.30pm until 5.30pm, will include discussions around the water investigation study and an update on the coast road.

Happisburgh

The meeting on Saturday, November 23, at the Wenn Evans Centre, from 9am until 1pm, will provide updates on work around the graveyard, the car park replacement and possible uses for the Old Caravan Park land.

West Runton

Discussions about caravan parks will be on the agenda on Tuesday, November 26, at West Runton Scout Hall between 9.30am and 12.30pm.

Coastwise is an initiative to help communities where the coast is eroding in north Norfolk.
