Choirs from Norfolk are getting the chance to perform on the Norwich Theatre Royal stage as part of a major autumn concert by popular performer Charlie Landsborough.

They will have the chance to open the show for the evergreen performer who is visiting the city as part of a UK tour to promote his brand new album Silhouette, his 29th album release.

Having previously been a teacher before embarking on his current career, Charlie has always recognised the vital role of music and choirs in the community.

Now he has decided to play his part to develop that by creating the chance for choral groups to show their singing skill through the Charlie Landsborough Amateur Choir Challenge.

The winning choir from the Anglia region will get the opportunity to perform live on stage at Norwich Theatre Royal during Charlie’s show on Sunday October 27 at 7.30pm. The choir will open the concert singing two songs – one of his tracks and one of their own choice.

Any choirs who are interested can log onto www.charlielandsborough.com to find out more information, entry details, and terms and conditions. To take part, they will be asked to donate £25, all of which will be given to the Children In Need charity.

The winner’s performance will also be recorded by Charlie’s sound company along with those from other venues on the tour, with the top choir nationally receiving £1000.

John Bultitude, of Norwich Theatre Royal, said: “This will be a great opportunity to celebrate the musical talent of the many choirs around the region. Developing and supporting singers is something that is very close to Charlie’s heart and this will be a great chance to show the quality of East Anglia’s choral performances, as well as supporting the Children In Need charity.”
