Chefs from The Black Boys Hotel have been honing their carving skills – pumpkin carving that is!

Landlord Matthew Miller decided to pit his chef’s against each other in this spooky challenge as a bit of fun, giving Matt Kent, Mike Atterbury and Gary Heffer two hours to create their masterpieces.

The chefs took the challenge very seriously. Under the watchful eye of Matthew, the designs were drawn out on paper before being transferred to their chosen pumpkin – Gary chose an aptly named “ghost pumpkin” variety.

However, the final winner will be up to customers, who will be able to view the chef’s creations in the pub and vote for their favourite, with all those who vote entered into a draw to win a meal for two at The Black Boys.

The chefs have also come up with a pumpkin starter, main and dessert for the menu over the Halloween period.
