Students celebrate exams success
It was a day they had been waiting all summer for.
Nervous and excited Aylsham High School students discovered their GCSE results on August 22 and received praise from their headteacher for their hard work and dedication.
The class of 2024 had a disrupted start to their time at the high school, experiencing three Covid lockdowns during their first year.
Executive Headteacher Duncan Spalding said staff were impressed by the way the youngsters approached their studies and achieved positive outcomes across a broad range of subjects.

He added: “We are once again really proud of the achievements of our students in the class of 2024 and have loved working with them over their years at AHS. They have achieved so many fabulous results, enjoyed so many wonderful experiences, and made lasting and fabulous friendships. “We congratulate them all on their success now and wish them every success in the future. We know they will achieve great things.”
“I know that the class of 2024 will join me in thanking the amazing teachers and support staff at AHS for everything that they
have done to support our students socially, emotionally, and academically.”
Our colleagues have gone the extra mile again to ensure that everyone was able to achieve no matter what challenges they faced.
“This includes the amazing support given to our first cohort of year 11 students from Ukraine who have achieved some fabulous GCSE results. This includes two students securing grade 9s in French, a language they had not learnt before moving to England. It is a source of huge pride for us to have been able to play even a small part in helping them to feel welcome in our community and to enjoy success.
“It is a real privilege to lead such a wonderful, welcoming, and caring school community and for all of us to share in each other’s success.”
