Surf’s up
After a summer on show around the town and neighbouring coastline, the decorated surfboards which were part of the Crab and Lobster Festival trail have been auctioned for local charities.
The 60 decorated surfboards raised a total of £9,837, with boards selling for between £20 and £1,400 each.
Themes ranged from abstract colourful creations to witty interpretations and fine art.
The board which commanded the highest price was created by Paul Robinson and was bought by festival volunteer Fiona Cunnington.

Festival chairman Tony Shipp said that although the prices varied, all the boards were works of art.
“Each and every creation was of equal importance in raising the money, of which £4,000 will be distributed to local charities later in the year,” he said. “Thank you to John for being the auctioneer once more and to all our volunteers.”
