Taverham Mill is picture perfect
We had a fantastic response to our Taverham Mill Nature Reserve photography competition, with lots of you getting out and enjoying the new reserve and sending in your wildlife pictures.
Congratulations to winners; Sophie Gray with her lovely picture of a red admiral, and Robert Tassell’s picturesque scene of a pair of mute swans on the river.
“All of the photos were of a really high calibre and it was great to see such a diverse range of wildlife captured in them, from stunning detail of damselflies and picturesque landscape shots, to fantastic ones of the Highland cows,” said Andy Brown, head of sustainability at Anglian Water, which owns the reserve. “It was a really difficult task to pick just two as winners and I hope everyone who entered has their photo hanging with pride somewhere at home.
“Sophie’s picture is a lovely composition, and the contrast of the colours of the butterfly against the log is great.
“Robert’s picture has an ethereal quality and really captures the peace and tranquillity of the nature reserve.”
Simon Wrigglesworth, head warden at Taverham Mill, added: “We’re delighted that so many people have already come down to visit the new reserve. The photos were of fantastic quality and the photographers responsible should be really proud.
“We’d really like to see more people coming down and using the site in this way, taking an interest in nature and enjoying the beautiful surroundings here.”
Well done to everyone who entered.
