The invincibles of St Andrews CC
St Andrews’ final day win ensured the club completed the Norfolk Cricket League season unbeaten – the first time Saints have achieved this feat since 1989. Just one game was lost to the weather, and there were 15 victories.

CHAMPIONS: St Andrews face the camera after their final league match of the season at Coltishall.
The 2025 campaign started with a 10-wicket win at Ashmanhaugh and it ended just a few miles away at Coltishall with another convincing performance. Saints used nine bowlers as the home side set a victory target of 207, and this was chased down with 85 balls to spare, thanks in the main to 73 from Michael Church.
Saints will be presented with the Division 2E trophy at the league’s annual dinner on Friday, October 17 and Varinder Singh must be in the running for an individual award having scored 815 league and cup runs at an average of 81.50 and taken 24 wickets.

OUTSTANDING: Varinder SIngh.
The Sunday side enjoyed an excellent home win over South Walsham and were set to wrap up their season with a visit to the same opposition. They have enjoyed their cricket in 2025 and played at some lovely grounds such as Greshams School, Ingham and Marlingford.
The club’s own presentation day was held on September 6 at Postwick. After 30 players had taken part in three games, the various awards were handed out and there was a special presentation to mark the whole-hearted contribution to the club of Gareth Ward who is moving away after 12 years with the Saints. Members and their families then enjoyed wood-fired pizzas which were cooked at the ground by D-lish Pizza Co.
The club are once again grateful to Norwich CC for allowing use of their excellent facilities at Ingham and Postwick, and in particular thank Colin and Paul for all their hard work on the wickets during the summer. Thanks are also due to old friends Eaton CC for contesting the Monty Montague Trophy, which enables the name of one of the club’s former stalwarts to live on. It has been a great summer of cricket, with everyone playing a part, and if the upcoming Ashes series whets your appetite for the game, please do get in touch.
