Aylsham Show launched its 2013 Food Hero Awards today, showcasing last year’s winners.

Representatives from overall winner J & D Papworth Farms/Butchers and section winners Norfolk Cordials, Wiveton Farm Cafe and The Gunton Arms talked about what the awards meant to them and how they had grown their businesses in Norfolk.

The launch was held at Blicking Hall with invited guest and sponsors sampling drinks and canapés from local suppliers, including the winners, Mrs Temples cheeses and Woodfordes Norfolk Ales.

This year’s awards will again see a category for an individual local food hero, last year won by Jason Baxter, who runs the catering department at Aylsham High School.

The Food Hero Awards are held as part of Aylsham Show and people will be able to nominate on the show website. Entry forms will also be available at Coxfords and Postles in Aylsham.

One of this year’s judges is well-known local food writer Mary Kemp, who came along to the launch.
