Town’s new banking hub is on the money
Cromer’s official bank hub has opened its doors to the public, allowing banking services to be accessed in the town.
With branches closing, people were having to travel to be able to do their banking face-to-face, but now most banks can be found in one place.
North Norfolk MP Steff Aquarone officially opened the hub on West Street, saying it was the second to start in the district since he began his campaign for better financial services for rural towns and villages across his constituency.
He was joined by Cromer Town Crier Mark Northway, Mayor Richard Leeds and bank hub staff to celebrate the milestone.
“Bank hubs are invaluable to rural towns where bank branches are often in short supply or non-existent, and I am so pleased that a second bank hub is now in operation in Cromer following on from the success of the first hub in Holt,” said Steff.
“Cromer has a bustling independent high street and this hub will allow business owners to continue thriving with access to the services that they need, delivered by the banks that they know and trust.”
He said he was pleased campaigning was paying off and said he was looking forward to opening another – in North Walsham – very soon.
The Cromer Banking Hub allows people and businesses to withdraw and pay in cash, deposit cheques, pay utility bills and check account balances through the Post Office service.
Registered businesses can collect change, and there is an external ATM.
Opening hours are 9am to 5pm on weekdays, with the hub closed on Saturdays and Sundays.
A community banker is available on site on Mondays (Barclays), Tuesdays, (Lloyds) and Fridays (NatWest).
