Vote for us please!

That is the message from the 1st North Walsham Scout Group which has made it through to the final stage of the Lloyds Community Fund competition – the public vote.

The group is competing to win a top prize of £3,000, but needs public votes to win.

The 1st North Walsham group involves children from their first days as a Beaver Scout at six years old and foster their young spirits into Cubs and then into Scouts.

Elaine Addison, the chairperson of the group said: “The 1st North Walsham Scout Group is a great asset to the area, but we rely on free help from adults and tireless hard work from dedicated section leaders. The monthly subscriptions for the children merely cover the running costs of the group and so we have to raise funds in other ways for additional costs such as camping equipment, tents and essential maintenance for our HQ building.”

She said the money would be an enormous boost for children’s games, tents and camping equipment.

“Our Scout Group is a really positive hub that brings together more than 100 children in the wider community from various backgrounds at the same time as providing key life skills to our young people,” she added.

Voting for the 2014 Community Fund is open until Friday, October 10. You can find out more by visiting the Lloyds Bank Community Fund website at:
