Waitrose join Worstead Festival

Waitrose in North Walsham has signed up to be the main sponsor of the annual Worstead Festival this year.

The supermarket will be donating £5,000 to help the 2013 festival over the weekend on July 27 and 28 go with a swing and, in turn, raise funds for local good causes.

Waitrose Partners will be attending the festival, encouraging visitors to take part in various activities at the store’s stand, which will include a balloon modeller, storytelling and some “green screen” technology, which will allow visitors to step back in time and have their photo taken as of 110 years ago when the first Waitrose store opened.

Festival chairman Simon Cole said: “This is a new milestone for the festival. We have always been lucky to have the support of sponsors and it’s great to see a major national organisation looking to back local community initiatives such as this.”

Waitrose North Walsham branch manager Ashley Broad said: “It is fantastic to be supporting the Worstead Festival which promises to be a really fun weekend of events. Waitrose always aims to become part of the communities in which we serve so it is great to be involved in the festival and make a significant donation to the local good cause that is benefiting from the festival proceeds.”
