The Catholic community including those who worship at St Helen’s in Hoveton have welcomed their new parish priest, who will also preside over congregations at Sacred Heart in North Walsham and St John of the Cross in Aylsham.

Father Peter Raj, who is originally from Goa, India, has taken over following the retirement of Father James Walsh and was given a warm welcome by his new parishioners.

Before coming to Norfolk, Peter spent 20 months as an assistant priest at Our Lady and the English Martyrs, Cambridge, and then moved on to serve in Ipswich as a parish priest for the past three years.

His energy has been particularly remarked upon and he has plans to “invigorate” the community.
