After some nail-biting moments as bad weather looked likely to scupper the annual New Year’s Day fireworks display, the blue touchpaper was lit again this year for a stunning event.

Held on the pier, it attracted thousands of people to the town to start 2025 with a whoosh and a bang.

Cromer mayor Pat West, who is also chairman of the firework committee, thanked everyone who turned out to watch and the volunteers who set up the event and made sure it all ran smoothly.

“After a challenging few days with concerns about the weather forecast we were pleased that this event went ahead and was enjoyed by a vast number of residents and visitors,” he said.

The display was made up of around 3,000 fireworks and was set up by Titanium Fireworks, who also organised the display in London on New Year’s Eve.

The event was free, as always, but there was a bucket collection on the night to raise money for local good causes.

There is also a Just Giving page open for donations – www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/cromerfireworks2025

Since it was first held to mark the Millennium in 2000, the displays have raised more then £100,000.
